Intake desk

Send field notes with enough context for the desk to read them.

The intake desk accepts written observations, correction requests, and questions about the public method. Please do not send private account exports unless we have asked for a redacted sample — one of the editors has to read whatever you send, and the desk prefers less private data, not more.

What to include

Required

Date, approximate time, room, animal species, devices present, and a short sequence of events. Two or three paragraphs is usually enough.

Useful

Whether the same sequence has happened before, what routine preceded it, and what changed afterward. A one-line follow-up after twenty-four hours is often more valuable than the original report.

Do not send

Credentials, exact addresses, private chat logs, medical records, faces, or any footage that shows the animal in distress. The desk will return identifying material with a short redaction guide.

Volunteering. If you would like to read submissions, write to the desk with a short note about why and an example of a household observation you have made yourself. New readers join after writing two trial summaries.
For health concerns

FARI is not a veterinary service. If your report describes an animal that is unwell, in pain, or behaving in a way that worries you, please see a veterinarian first. We are happy to read the report afterward; the animal does not need to wait for us.
